Common Greenshank (Tringa nebularia) **
The Common Greenshank (Tringa nebularia) is a medium-sized wader known for its long, slightly upturned bill and distinctive greenish legs. It is a highly adaptable bird, often found in a range of wetland habitats, including estuaries, tidal mudflats, marshes, and the edges of freshwater lakes and rivers. The species is widespread, migrating over long distances from its breeding grounds in northern Europe and Asia to wintering areas in Africa, South Asia, and parts of Australasia. Common Greenshanks are solitary feeders, using their long legs to wade through shallow waters as they search for small fish, crustaceans, and invertebrates. Agile and active, they are often seen probing the mud or water with their bills, sometimes even chasing prey. Their ability to adapt to various environments makes them a common sight across much of their range during migration.
