Pallid Swift / Apus pallidus **
The Pallid Swift is one of nature’s most skilled aviators — spending nearly its entire life in the air. Sleek, scythe-winged, and built for speed, this bird rarely lands except to breed. Its incredible flying abilities allow it to sleep, feed, drink, and even mate while airborne. With long, curved wings and a streamlined body, the Pallid Swift is capable of fast, agile flight and high-altitude gliding, making it a challenge to track with the naked eye. Often seen circling high in flocks or skimming low over terrain in search of insects, its mastery of the skies is a spectacle of grace and endurance. From late spring to early autumn, it can be seen over coastal areas and rocky cliffs, particularly during migration periods.
